Birthday Celebration #2

Today, both kids woke up about the same time.  Too bad Peyton sleeps in during the week and then wakes up with Brandon and bothers us on weekends!  We got ready for Brandon’s game at 9 am.  My parents came down first, then we went in two cars to the game.  Brandon put up at least one basket in honor of my parents being there.  He also got at least one rebound.   Brandon did well the first half, but we could tell he was getting tired after halftime.  His arms weren’t going up to defend, and he was slower getting back to the other side of the court.  The team they were playing was good, and there was a lot of running involved.  Brandon looks like an octopus when he runs, with all 4 limbs moving in different directions.  It’s no wonder he is so skinny with the amount of energy burned the way he runs.  Maybe I should start running like him, too 🙂  It’ll be a new weight loss regimen.  Anyway, when Dave called timeout, Brandon ran over to the sidelines and took off his arm band, meaning, “Sub me out, Coach!”  He needed water, and a rest.  They all seemed to!  After the game, Peyton and I left to go to Bailey’s birthday, while the boys and my parents went to kill time for about an hour before lunch.  Peyton and I got to CEC right as Bonnie and Connor were getting there.  In fact, they were behind us coming into the parking lot. I spotted Bonnie in the rear view mirror, and I waved. Peyton asked me who I was waving to, and I told her, “Auntie Bonnie!”  She turned around, and Bonnie waved, but Peyton did not.  She just said, “Oh yeah, that’s Auntie Bonnie!”  I told her she should have waved, too!  We went inside, and Peyton quietly gave Bailey her present.  They did exchange some soft words, and both were polite to one another.  Bailey lost a few coins, which we helped pick up for her.  Then, we saw Joyce and the other friends to greet everyone.  Joyce gave us a cup of coins, and Peyton was a little bit reluctant to play.  Then, she got into it!  I tried to convince her to get tickets, so at least she could bring something back.  She was only getting a few at a time, but enjoyed Skeeball.  We also played air hockey, and I tried my hardest to win, though I told her I’d play with my right hand. (Almost) no mercy! She hung in there, and the final score was 7-5.  Not bad!  When it was lunchtime, we were all called over, but Peyton didn’t want to go.  I had to drag her over to eat.  After we washed up,  she ate one slice of pizza and said she was done. She didn’t even it all of it, just until the crust, and she left it.  She had some water, and that was it.  She wanted to go back and play.  She didn’t even want to join in in the birthday song or to see Chuck come out.  I finally had to tell her she was being rude, and that we weren’t going to go shopping with our tickets until after we went back over to the tables.  She agreed, and we made it just in time as they were serving cake. Peyton sat down again, and waited for her cake.  She ate it, then she rushed back off to go shopping.  She ended up getting a braid extension (pink, of course) for her hair, a sticker sheet, and ring.  She later found 2 tickets and the lady gave her a smarties roll.  She later went to play in the structure with Penny.  Penny had gotten knocked down inside the tunnel, so she was reluctant to go back in there.  But Peyton took her and she eventually went up there with her.  They climbed around the hamster trap, and enjoyed driving the Nascar.  We tried to take pictures of them, but they didn’t stay still long enough.  Finally, they were done, and we said our thank you’s and goodbyes, then left for the restaurant.  We got there, and it was crowded, but we didn’t see the family.  I decided to go home, as I was starving by then!  They’d already gotten home by then, though I didn’t get a text from Dave!  But they had some leftovers, which I ate, while they played MJ.  I told Peyton to go upstairs and take a nap, while Brandon was playing a new game with my aunt.  Peyton eventually fell asleep, and so did I, but on the couch.  She woke up and came back down, and then played with Brandon for a bit. She wanted to put the next big puzzle together, so we started that before I tagged Dave out for the next game.  We played another, then my mom, grandma, aunt, and uncle took Peyton back to my parents’ house.  My dad had left earlier as he had the pageant to get to in the City.  After my mom left, we took Brandon out to eat again.  This kid is getting his share this weekend!  He said, “I kinda am glad Peyton isn’t here, but I’m kinda not.”  I asked him why he was glad, and he said, “Because she always whines.”  I asked him why he was kinda not.  He said, “Because I like to play with her sometimes.”  True. And true.  While we headed out in the car, and a song came on that wasn’t FROZEN; Dave and I started dancing in the car.  We were so happy to have just one kid for the evening!  We were trying to embarrass Brandon, telling him we may run into one of his friends in the neighborhood!  We went back to the sports store that they’d been earlier so I could check out some running shoes, which I was in need of.  We made our way to dinner, and it was getting late, so we told Brandon the purple stack (blueberry oatmeal pancakes, with marscapone) was part of his dessert for the day.  He agreed, and happily ate his share.  When we came home, he showered up, then I left for the gym to try out the new shoes of course!  Brandon said he was tired, but only because “I can’t wait for my party tomorrow.”  Right…we could see it in his eyes at dinner.  I told him tomorrow he was to play quietly, while I tried to sleep in.  We have to get started early to get our seats in the theater and then await seven, energetic boys!  I think we will caffeinate before greeting them.
