Birthday Weekend Celebration

Saturday morning, Brandon and Dave headed out to baseball practice, but only for less than an hour. Peyton and I packed up to get ready for the weekend. When the boys got home, we headed up to my dad’s. Both kids asked if they’d stay there, and when we told them yes, they immediately asked, “Is Grandma going to be there?” Haha…papa gets no love. We stayed for an hour or so, then Dave said it was time to head out. We headed up to our hotel, but we made a stop for lunch. I wanted to go to a diner or something for brunch, but Dave was somehow following his nose and ended up at a food truck strop. Four trucks with regular food with a dessert/custard truck. Dave really wanted “bao”, and sure enough, ask and ye shall receive! He waited in line for that while I waited for a grilled brie cheese with apple slices and roasted almonds. We met in the middle and got our grub on. It was super yummy, but we were in a bit of a time constraint as we didn’t know how bad traffic would be. We went to the hotel to change quickly then headed out to the wedding. We hit a bit of traffic, but that let me nap a little bit. I was still coming off a cold, and I wanted to get some rest. We got to the wedding site with about 30 minutes to spare. We waited in the bar, and Dave got a glass of wine while we waited. It was warm out, so we decided to sit in the cool inside before heading out. The wedding started at 430 pm, so we left to go out around 415 pm. We saw some people from my work, and I introduced Dave to the girls. It seemed no one wanted to sit, but once there was a move to the chairs, we all went en masse. We tried to stay out of the sunny chairs, which was a bit difficult. Dave got us some waters and a fan, and we just waited. The ceremony started about 15 minutes late, but it was beautiful! After the short but sweet ceremony, Dave and I headed over to the winery/reception site. It was within walking, but we didn’t want to have to walk across the street again after the reception was over. There was plenty of street parking, so it wasn’t bad. The hors d’oeurves were a mashed potatoes bar with fixings. Dave had initially been a bit skeptical about a gluten free party, but he was happy to eat! He wanted a second one but saved his calories. We got to know our tablemates and talked up one of the husbands who owns at dojo. We told him we were considering signing up the kids to get more discipline in them, so it was an interesting conversation. Dinner was served, and it was buffet style. Flip flops were provided to the women, and I changed into them even though I had some in the car.  At one point in the dinner, Roxy’s wedding coordinator came up to the table to ask for me.  The whole table turned, while I waved.  She provided me with a card.  Roxy had gotten me a singing birthday card, and I was so touched!  We’d talked about it being my birthday when she set up her wedding date.  She apologized, but I told her it would help me remember her anniversary forever and ever!

We stayed until the music stopped, as Wendy grabbed me to dance, and I gave in and stayed there for awhile. Once I was up there, I had fun, while Dave just watched from our table. We left around 1130 pm, with a half-hour drive back to our hotel. I told Dave I wanted to sleep in and to not bother me.  Dave wanted to go back to the wineries, but I wanted to eat brunch up there.  At 830 am, Dave woke me up with an ipad in my face.  “Ad hoc has reservations at 1030 am” was what he told me.  I signed into open table and booked the reservation.  But that meant, no sleeping in, and we had to get up and get ready right away.  We checked out, and then headed out.  We parked and arrived at the restaurant and parked.  It was still early, so we headed to get pastries, but it was crowded.  We didn’t want to wait, so we headed across to get coffee, then headed to our restaurant destination for dinner to take pictures.  We headed back down the street and took pictures there, then entered.  Even though it was early, they sat us.  It was not crowded at all.  We had a three-course + add on breakfast, family style.  We were trying to pace ourselves and not get too full.  It was still early, but still, we had a big dinner to get to.  There was too much food at breakfast, but we did enjoy it all.  I wanted to walk after, so we did a walk up and back, and according to the map, it was about 1.5 miles.  It would’ve been 2 miles roundtrip had we started at the beginning of the trail.  It was pretty warm!  We spent some time walking around in the shops, and just sitting, waiting for the food to digest.  I really wanted a nap, but I didn’t want to be a bum in the middle of the grass.  Dave took us across town, and we headed to two wineries.  Dave was trying to hold back, too, so he didn’t over-drink.  I shopped while Dave drank.  Eventually, my parents arrived, and then we walked around with them. Danielle and Scott came after that, while we were at one of the wineries letting my mom taste.  We headed to the restaurant, where we found them.  We took some more pictures of all of us.  We didn’t wait long before we were seated.  Our party was asked several times for “Robyn”, and I was put off by it.  They all wished me happy birthday, and I got to start first.  I was a bit embarrassed, as we were seated in the main table around a bunch of tables of two’s.  Once more tables filled up, the conversation picked up, and I didn’t feel as fish-bowl-ish.  Dinner started with the sun a little bit in my dad’s eyes, which the wait staff fixed right away.  It ended with the dining room being VERY dark!  We all had great conversation, had white and red wine, and ate just until we were full.  I still tried all the desserts.  ALL of the desserts.  Macarons, birthday cake, mac nuts, milk and cookies ice cream, coffee, donuts, and a chocolate s’more chocolate truffle, and chocolate semi-freddo.  We wrapped up around 915 pm, and then we headed back to SF.  The kids were still up by 1030 pm, and I think my aunt was happy to hear us parking.  She immediately opened the gate for us, and released the kids from their rooms.  They were sharing a bed, and I knew that was the reason they were not asleep.  They were happy to see us.  We got them in the car, then headed home. Of course, in the car, Brandon fell asleep.  Peyton stayed up a little longer than Brandon. She was trying to wake him, but when I turned around, she stopped bothering him.  It was silent the rest of the way, while I stayed up with Dave.  We got them in bed by 1130 pm, and I figured it would be rough for them on Monday.  Dave and I unpacked the car, and we were asleep by 1230 am.  This morning, I had to drag Peyton out of bed, while Brandon was up right at 645 am.  I helped Peyton get ready for school, helping her change and brushing her hair. Then I left for work.  I called CDC to check in with her, and she was doing well there, but she’d had a rough time in school today. I can’t say that I was surprised, with her lack of sleep.  The teacher emailed me, and I forwarded it along to Dave. When I picked Peyton up, she started by saying, “I had a good day at CDC!”  I told her to tell me about school.  I also told her she’d be sleeping in her bed by 7 pm.  Dave said the same thing when he got home.  I had already had her bathe, before I’d given her dinner, then she practiced piano, and then read for 20 minutes. She has no computer time, including book time on the computer, so she’ll have to earn that back.  We’ll try the incentivizing that we used for Brandon, with happy faces, meh faces, and sad faces for different time periods.  She was sent to Ms. Song’s class today, and she didn’t even listen there!  I asked if she listened to Ms. S, and she said, slowly, “Welllllll, not realllllyy…”  We’re meeting with the teacher AND CDC this Friday. Joy.  This is the last week of 3 hour days.  next week, it’s the full day, until 230 pm.  Geez…I hope something changes!

Technology

Michelle referred me to an article I’d seen but hadn’t opened about technology and kids.  I’d remembered hearing the “TV” warning and tried to keep Brandon away until after 2 years old.  Of course, by the time Peyton was born, Brandon was well over 2, and she got her dose much earlier.

My friend, Alexa, a pre-school teacher, and low-tech advocate for books, reminded me it’s not just “TV” it’s all screens – phones, computer, TV.   Back when Brandon was younger, we didn’t have an ipad and my phone was just getting smart.  By the time Peyton came around, phones were even smarter, and ipads started to come about.  She thinks it’s a shame to have computer-reading for kinders!  The kids are limited on the weekends, though Dave’s usually watching some sports on tv.  Seems those have the most violent commercials, viagra stores in canada Foods rich in zinc include wheat germ, oysters, milk full fat, chick peas, rye, lamb, crab cooked, roast beef, chicken breast, cheese, fish, cooked brown rice, low fat yogurt, canned baked beans, cashews, pine nuts, pumpkin seeds, shrimp, almonds, pecans, brazil nuts, sesame seeds, almonds, spinach, kidney beans, flax seeds, lima beans, garlic, watermelon seeds, salmon, turkey, lobster, dark chocolate and mushrooms. I will often find her sneaking a peek at my phone, unlocking it to play games, or youtube.  Brandon will mostly use the computer for homework, and otherwise could care less.  We haven’t had to worry about his usage of late.  Video games haven’t really been an issue lately either, as out of sight, out of mind (I put all the figurines away for skylanders).  We’ve been taking electronics away from Peyton on bad days, so we’ll use that as an incentive for her, as this may be one of the few things that she will respond.  Just like anything else, we need to use technology for good, not evil 🙂

Special kids…

I was telling Dave about the final jeopardy question last night. Category was “Foreign words”.   “The Holy Roman Empire from 800 to 1806 was the first; the German Empire from 1871 to 1918 was the second.”  I was happy to have answered it right 🙂  But I was telling Dave when Alex gave the clue “The third was the most infamous, the second guy shook his head, looking like he knew he was wrong.”  Both kids, who’d only watched half before getting kicked out for messing around said, “You mean, Jesse?”  I didn’t believe them, so began the internet search for the above quote, and then it did reveal the other two contestants who got the question wrong – Jesse and Carrie.  I asked Peyton who the other play was. Yeah!”

Countdown Begins…

Since Monday, Peyton has been counting down days until my birthday on Saturday. She’s done a great job with no corrections. Brandon seems to have no clue, but Peyton will tell him each morning or each afternoon how many more days are remaining. It’s sad that I haven’t been as excited about it, as I’m still stuffy and drippy. It is nice to see her excitement though! She wants to know what kind of cake “WE” are having to celebrate. So maybe there is an ulterior motive.
We had a great day for PC this morning. The teacher gave me 50 minutes though I’d asked for 30. I had two parents observing me, so I was extra nervous, in addition to an energetic classroom of kinders. Peyton didn’t add much, but she also did not distract, so I was proud of her for that. I did get a comment from the other mom that I knew many of the kids’ names. I told her that I was learning on the fly, and that I was forcing myself to commit to learning the kids’ names. I wrapped up just in time, and thanked the class. Being able to use computers in a day to day lives for sure! The Mucinex, Zyrtec, Sudafed, caffeine, and ibuprofen all worked. (Peyton told me later, “You didn’t even cough once!”) I went in to work for less than 2 hours, and still got a call from CDC. Ugh. Apparently, the worksheets I’d stashed in her folder were still in her folder, and she was on green but wanted to be on blue as it was “Arthur Friday”. This set her off, and she started crawling to CDC. When I picked her up, she was without her shoes and in the CDC office. We are going to have a meeting with CDC and the teacher. The teacher has her hands full with other kids in class who have other attention needs (at least two of them did not join me for my talk today) and aren’t used to sitting still for circle time. Mrs. M is going to put Peyton’s worksheets in a cubby where she can get to on her own at pick up time. They think it’s a transition thing that she has problem with; she is getting better in class, so I guess it’s progress!

Absentee (Sick) Mommy

The last few days, it started with a sore throat, then progressed to body aches, and now a stuffy/runny nose with loss of smell/taste. Ugh. Brandon. He couldn’t contain his germs. Now, on the eve of my “big birthday”, I’m sick! I went to sleep at 945 pm Monday, 730 pm Tuesday (kids hugged me goodnight on the couch, I may have even fallen asleep earlier than that…Peyton hugged and said, “Good night, Sick Mommy”), 945 pm Wednesday, and hoping for something around 8 pm (it’s 745 pm now) tonight. This new schedule finally caught up to me. It hasn’t stopped me just yet, though I’d considered it this morning at the butt crack of dawn. I was surprised this morning with breakfast, courtesy of Bonnie and Kathy. I saw food on the table, and thought I’d missed the memo to bring in food! I thought it was some potluck I didn’t get an invite for! It was yummy – blueberry coffee cake, brie, crackers, fruit, and veggie straws. It was all perfect timing, as I could still taste and smell at that time! I’d already gotten sudafed ready, and more sinus rinse, as I couldn’t find my supply this morning and didn’t want to go searching around in the dark. I somehow made it through the day. During lunch, I’d received an email from Mrs. M. Peyton had a BLUE day, and she did her worksheets while waiting. Mrs. M noticed when Peyton was getting a little out of sorts, she’d give her a task to keep her busy. Worked like a charm! CDC said her day there was great as well! Definitely translation into CDC. Whenever she does well at school, she does well at CDC. Brandon had a great day as well, but I could tell he was tired. He was up late last night after baseball and homework (almost 9 pm). Peyton played well, and then changed positions with Brandon. He played while she did her homework. She was supposed to draw a page from her favorite book (Frozen) and write a sentence about the picture. She drew a castle in pencil first, and I told her to give more detail. She reluctantly filled in Olaf, both Anna and Elsa, and some foreground. She started with two words on the line, but later she filled out a complete sentence. We came home, and I was told Peyton had her Razkid assignment. She was so excited to log in. I told her she needed 20 minutes. she did that, and then continued to read until Dave came home. She even told us, “I’m a reading robot.” She started on E, which is according to the leveled reading is the second step of 1st grade. Brandon started on D. She has his problem though; she can “read” but she doesn’t comprehend, which is important! She plugged away at her books, and ended up getting through half of E. We got them upstairs to bed by 730 pm; they didn’t last through Jeopardy, since they were picking at each other on the couch. Just as well for me. I have to prep for my book reading lesson tomorrow, to be done in front of newbie parents, with the teacher watching, too! Hopefully my nose isn’t too stuffy! I’ll have to muster up myself to fill 50 minutes (I asked for 30 and got 50!) with a bunch of kinders. Will need a good night’s sleep for sure!

Playdate #2

Today, we headed out to swim class. This was at the house pool where Peyton almost drowned last time, and ended up vomiting all over the place. She promised me she wouldn’t almost drown this time. Yay! Actually, both kids did a great job in the pool, and we’re now considering having their lessons here all the time as there are less distractions for them. It’s farther away, but it may work out better. It’s a narrow pool, but we were the only ones in it. We headed home after, and Brandon showered up. Peyton changed to go on her playdate with V. I packed some snacks, two cups of fruit, two cheesesticks, and some snap peas. I wasn’t sure if V would eat any of it, but I wanted to have some there just in case. I didn’t have any “fun” snacks today, but I wanted to play it safe. If there were dairy allergies, then she could at least have fruit. We arrived as scheduled, and Peyton played on her own for awhile. V and her mom showed up, and the girls headed out to play together. Her mom and I talked about where the girls went to school previously, and chit chatted about life and school. It was only after about an hour or so that her mom and I did talk about school more seriously. We were on the same page about the teacher, unfortunately. And V’s mom knew there was something going on with the girls, though she didn’t know which way it was going, and hadn’t sorted it out yet. Both girls have very similar temperaments, and they are both having problems at school, and V’s mom was trying to figure out how to address it but wasn’t getting a lot of feedback from the classroom. We walked back and forth between the two structures, and Peyton comfortably went on the rings and bars. Androgenic alopecia is primarily because of the higher levels of cholesterol, rx sildenafil etc. V was trying her best, and I encouraged Peyton to help V get through it. We did our best to encourage V to get across. She attributed Peyton’s ability to her longer arms, though her mom suggested that maybe due to more practice. They will be starting V in gymnastics at the place where Peyton had her last bday party. I told V’s mom that Peyton had had some gymnastics early on in life. It may be how she has her upper body strength now. We stopped for snacks, and both girls washed up. Peyton did ask V what fruit cup she wanted first, and then asked if she wanted cheese. V wasn’t sure if she’d ever eaten snap peas before, and she asked Peyton, “Peyton, have I eaten this before?” Peyton told her, “No.” It was cute, like they were long-time friends. The girls saw a robot dancing for a birthday party in the middle of the park. They saw fit to go join the party, right in the middle! I had to get them to sit, but they were too enthralled. Peyton tried to get V to sit down, too, but she wasn’t listening. Finally, they came over to us, and watched a few more songs before returning to play. After 2 hours, it was getting really warm. We said goodbye to V, and Peyton reluctantly left. As the two of us were walking back to the car, I asked if she had fun. She said, “No.” I asked her, “Is that because you had to leave?” And she said, “Yes!” She doesn’t always mean what she says, and it definitely comes out wrong. She did finally say she had a good time with V. We’ll have to do it again.

Parties!

This morning, Dave went to practice alone, as Brandon was still coughing. Dave didn’t want to spread his germs to his teammates and wanted him to rest. That didn’t stop other kids from showing up sick and coughing all over the place. I had some errands to run, wanting to pick up fruit for our guests at Peyton’s playdate. We went to Costco, and got there 5 minutes before opening. The line was like Disneyland! We stood in the back, all the way down the ramp, and the kids asked what we were doing. I told them that the store wasn’t opened yet, and that we had to wait our turn. We got in and out in about 30 minutes, and then headed to TJ’s for stuff for the week. We got home by 11 am, and I sent Peyton to “rest”. I didn’t want drama at the playdate, so I wanted her to nap if she was able. At least be quiet. Dave came home from his coffee and tofu run. Brandon was banished to his room to not spread his germs to us. Peyton came down about an hour later, looking like she’d slept (her hair was all messed up). I’d closed her door, so I’m not sure if she did or not. We practiced piano, and then we headed out. We arrived just as Neha, Sammy, and Sandeep arrived. We walked in together, and Misha was SOOO happy! We took a tour of her new house, and she showed the girls her room. We were going to get ready for lunch when Sydney arrived with Natalie! Perfect timing. With all four girls together, they ate lunch, starting in the house, and ending on the patio outside. Peyton had no problems warming up, playing nicely with the other girls. She knew she had to finish her lunch before going in the pool. After lunch, it was time to let the food settle, so they were coloring and playing with balloons, trying to blow them up. They were drawing on them too after the adults tied them off. Finally, it was time to get in the pool. These girls have been together for so many years, they have no reservations changing in front of each other, going potty with one another in the bathroom (yes, I told Peyton to go wash her hands, and she went in while Sydney was there on the toilet already!). They all changed their clothes and headed into the pool. I was dressed for the pool, but I didn’t see any other parent changing or getting in, so I sat with them, and kept my eye on the pool. The shallow end is 3.5 feet deep, and Vishwa told the girls to not cross the line to the 8.5 feet deep area. There was a rope separating the shallow and deep ends, but the shallow area did gradually slope toward the line. Misha can barely stand on her tippy toes in that area, meaning Peyton would have problems, since she is a tad shorter than her. They did a good job listening and stayed on the correct side. They dived for rings, flipped, and jumped from the side. They even posed for a picture, kind of. Sona was saying how cute it would be to re-enact the photo 10 years from now. Vishwa commented that they would not all fit in the step as they did now 🙂   Drew and Joel came after Drew’s nap, while Bora arrived after work.

Sydney got too cold and came out of the pool, while Misha, Neha and Peyton took turns jumping from the diving board.  Each girl got 2 jumps.  I stood poolside in case I needed to jump in and save Peyton, and Vishwa asked the girls to jump closer to the side to make things easier.  I was a little uneasy about it, but Peyton floated up and swam to the side.  She swam the length of the pool back to the shallow end before the next girl was able to jump.  For her second jump, she did a perfect cannonball.  Sandeep even called it out from across the pool.  When she surfaced, she said, “Mommy, I did a bomb!”  She crossed the line safely before Neha did her last jump.  She’s able to go almost all the way to the bottom!  After being in the water for over an hour, Peyton did finally come out on her own.  I wrapped her up, and after she ate two cuties, she agreed to change her clothes.  After changing, she went back outside and had ice cream with the girls.  Bora brought cotton candy ice cream from BR in addition to vanilla.  Cotton candy is pink and purple; I’d never seen it before!  When asked if anyone wants vanilla, NONE of the girls responded.  I did try some, and it did taste like cotton candy!  After the ice cream, the girls played a little bit, while the parents helped clean up the kitchen.  We said thank you and goodbye to our guests.  I had to pry Peyton away, but she came eventually without tears as Neha was leaving with her family. I told Peyton she could come back for another playdate if she left with me when I asked.  Sona was surprised how quickly Peyton listened, but she hadn’t heard my “talk” with Peyton.  On our 2 minute drive home, I asked Peyton if she enjoyed having Misha at her school.  Her response was, “NO!”  I had to clarify.  I asked her, “Is it because she is not in your class?  Or that you don’t see her yet (since they don’t have lunch yet, they don’t have a chance to see each other as they are on opposite playgrounds for recess)?”  She said, “YES!”  Phew…I had her shower up, and then she was ready for bed by 6 pm.  I knew she’d sleep well.  Dave had dinner all ready for the kids, and he wanted them to sleep ASAP as he had football AND baseball to watch.  I left them around 615 pm to head to dinner myself.  I was having dinner with Julie, Michelle, Bonnie, Thuy and Theresa tonight! It’s an early birthday party, and I was excited for the get-together, since we never see each other all together at work.  Julie got there first, and I saw her walk into the restaurant.  Michelle and Bonnie arrived together next, and then Thuy followed by Theresa.  We started with apps and drinks (Julie and I split one, so I’d be able to get home okay).  The filo brie and calamari were yummy! We ate, drank and enjoyed each other’s company.  We wrapped up with two desserts, which paired perfectly – hazelnut, chocolate layer cake and a huge peanut butter bon bon.  As we headed out, we caught the score to the baseball game.  It made me NOT want to go home. It made me want to have another drink at the bar…17-0!!  Ugh…I did go home, and shared some paella with Dave.  He was already giddy, but he did show me the highlights of the football game.  1 out of 2 isn’t bad!

Here are the pictures from our playdate…hopefully Bonnie’s picture came out of our group at dinner!  Thanks, Bonnie, for always having a camera on hand…

also some video of them all jumping in…i wasn’t fast enough to get a photo…so I video’d it. ONE (random jumping).  TWO (coordinated).

Dark Side

Last night, I (with some help) made the decision to turn to the dark side in the phone selection process. Dave is anti fruit, when it comes to phones, but somewhat endorsed taking this next step. He even sorta waited up with me until midnight, meaning, he slept on and off until 1150 pm when he woke up and helped me man a computer. We refreshed back and forth, and it still didn’t work. We tried for 45 minutes before I gave up since I had to teach an art and music lesson with another mom at 8 am in Brandon’s class. The other mom was doing most of the teaching, while I was helping out with supplies, glue-sticking, pencil sharpening, and help with the students. Dave stayed up trying until past 1 am. I got up early to help get Peyton ready for her make-up assessments. Dave got up and started calling and logging in again. He did finally get through to BB to get the phone there. Hopefully it arrives in time for my birthday, but either way, it should arrive sometime this month!

Peyton was scheduled for 740 am, and we got there at 735 am. Unfortunately, her teacher did not arrive until 748 am. First bell was 8 am, and I was a bit upset by her tardiness. She was late last week as well! But we did see Ms. Song bright and early…! Peyton and Brandon, who arrived later with Dave, played on the slides, which had dew on them. Her shorts were soaked on her bottom, but fortunately, she somehow had put her pants on backwards this morning! When her teacher arrived, I helped her change her shorts around without having to remove her shoes. At least she didn’t have a soggy bottom, but her shorts were wet in front now. I asked the teacher if she wanted me in or out of the classroom. She said she didn’t care, so I sat away from them, on their couch and looked at my phone. I did hear what she was being asked, which I somewhat reviewed with her this morning – letter sounds. Last time, she said she forgot D. This morning, I reviewed the two sounds each vowel made. When asked about sounds, Peyton only gave one sound for each of the vowels. She wasn’t asked for the alternate or the “long” sound, but she didn’t offer it up either. She did well with addition and subtraction of numbers to 5, but needed help with counters for numbers to 10. She read the book that was given to her, and she answered the comprehension questions that accompanied. They were inference-based questions, “How do you know that they are friends?” The teacher told her that she’s heard her read books to her friends, so she had another book ready for her. It was a book about a wiggly tooth. She read this, and then answered some questions about this. I wasn’t sure if this was as relatable, since she hasn’t had a missing tooth. I think one of the questions was, “Why does she want her tooth out?” I didn’t hear what she said because I was coming up with my own answer to that question 🙂 “Because she wants money from the tooth fairy,” was what I was thinking. I tried to remind her that the teacher is only looking to see what she knows or doesn’t know so she knows what to teach her this year. She is afraid of being wrong on answers, so sometimes she won’t answer at all. She was done after the first bell, then we headed back out to the playground. I talked to her about her behavior for school, and then I left to go to Brandon’s class. The other mom was already there, and we got the class set up. The kids came in shortly after flag salute, and then we started right away. The lesson went well, except for a pen that exploded in my hands. I had ink all over both hands, and the worst part was that it was in my rings! My band looked like it had sapphires, not diamonds 🙁 I was out of commission cleaning my hands with alcohol cleanser, which did help. I didn’t want to touch their work in case it transferred. I mostly cleaned up, though there was still ink in the ring. We wrapped up, and then I headed to work after saying bye to Brandon. He hadn’t really wanted to follow my directions, but his portrait of his teacher did turn out fairly well! Work went quickly, and I returned to get Peyton. CDC said she did really well there, but she had trouble in the morning at school. She was fine until free choice time, when she “squeezed Brandon and wouldn’t stop.” She changed to yellow and then finally on orange. 🙁 She needs to put it all together and do well in BOTH CDC and school. We touched base with Brandon, who had chess club, and then we headed home. She is still off electronics, so she did some reading and some worksheets while I cleaned up. We headed back to get Brandon, and because he has a cough and is slightly under the weather, we didn’t go anywhere. Because it was so hot, I’d considered going to the club to swim, but I wanted him to get better. We hung out here, practiced piano, and then both started to complain about being hungry. That meant I couldn’t stall any longer for dinner. I got some fish and quinoa prepped for them. Both ate, so I guess that was a good sign. Dave came home half-way through dinner, and he brought sushi, though the kids weren’t given any. Both kids bathed earlier in the day, as I wanted them both to get a good night’s sleep. We’ve had a busy, full week of activities, and with Brandon being sick, I didn’t want it to spread to Peyton (or me). Dave wanted them asleep for personal (baseball) reasons. They were in bed by 730 pm, and I think at least one or more were asleep by 8 pm. While I was getting them to sleep, Dave told me we got a response from Peyton’s friend’s mom. I’d invited them to a playdate with Peyton yesterday afternoon, but hadn’t heard from them. I saw her at drop off, but I didn’t want to bring it up again. I thought I was being ignored, or it went to spam, but she apologized for the late response. We’ll meet up after swim class for a little while, and then go home in time for Brandon’s baseball game on Sunday. Tomorrow is baseball practice for Dave, and most likely NOT Brandon, if he’s still coughing, possibly gym time for me, depending on Brandon’s situation, as I don’t want to drag him out, the playdate with the pre-school girls, and then my playdate with the girls 🙂 It’s super quiet now, with SF > LA 4-0, in the 2nd inning, so I’m enjoying the game!
