He’s Baaack!

Yesterday was a low key day. We did the same-o same-o, like go to work and sell cookies. 🙂 This time, we hit up another work area, and Peyton (and Julie) did her thing. It was a little harder for her, if that’s even possible, but she has this rash on her face, that she’s a bit self-conscious about. I think she forgets it’s there, though I did bring it up a few times. She is getting more bold and asking strangers if they’d like to buy cookies. She’s telling them how much each box will cost, and saying thank you, eventually. We went to piano as usual, and then it was a quiet evening, with both down after jeopardy at 730 pm, and me asleep by 9 pm. Today, we got up and read a bit, then headed in to work site # 3. Brandon suddenly said, “This is far! Is this why you have to leave so early in the morning?” He got his days mixed up, but I did tell him it was a farther drive to this site. Our intent was to see Roxy, but we ended up selling stock on hand as well. We stopped by to say hi to Auntie Bonnie, and the kids were a bit stir-crazy! We managed to leave without breaking my work chair (they were having fun playing around on it), and then we re-loaded cookies before heading home. Dave came home mid-afternoon, prior to Peyton’s appointment for her face. Brandon rushed him at the door and gave him a great, big bear hug, just as Auntie Bonnie had suspected. He wouldn’t even let him in the door way; he just stood there and gave him a long embrace. Peyton just laughed at him, but she did go and give him a hug, too. It just wasn’t as exuberant as Brandon’s.
We all went to her appointment together. Of course, we brought along cookies, and Peyton sold to some of the MA’s in pediatrics, while I headed to the office to check on voicemails and do a little work. However the solution can also be 4frontimports.com viagra for women discovered under the fraction of 200mg in extensive solution form. I brought Brandon with me, and he proceeded to make paper airplanes, and origami games. Lawrence was in the office, and he asked if we were having a party. I’d gotten locked out of my computer, so it was taking me some time to get signed back in. Finally, I did, made a call, and then signed off in time for Dave and Peyton to arrive. Diagnosis, as suspected, contact dermatitis. She’d been rolling (literally) around on the floor of my dad’s office, and the doctor thinks she may have picked something up there. I found out that Dr C said we probably shouldn’t have had to come in, but she was glad that Peyton did, as she sold her two boxes of cookies! Score! She made one last sale to Lawrence, who despite getting a few girl scouts at his door, decided to buy from Peyton, too. We headed to get a new toilet for our bathroom. Our toilet gets the most use, with three of us (Peyton refuses to use Brandon’s yucky one). She was happy, saying, “Yay, no more clogs!” As we returned home, we saw the neighbor boys outside, and Peyton and Brandon ran down the street to sell to them. Dave and I were bringing in the toilet, so they were on their own. Funny thing is Peyton wouldn’t go unless Brandon went, and he was more than happy to go down with her. He helped her carry one of the cookie boxes, and then escorted her back.
We’ll go door to door in my dad’s (my old) neighborhood. There is less solicitation around the hills, and more neighbors we know that may help us out. Dave is changing it now, the kids are all asleep, and sports weekend resumes tomorrow, with the final push for the season. The end of the season tournament is this weekend, and Peyton has a birthday party to attend tomorrow. It’ll be fun for us all!

Fun Day!

Dave woke up as usual this morning, and he was wrapping up his packing for his mini trip away from home. He was not thrilled as he’d be sharing the room with co-worker, whom he isn’t close. Brandon was giving Dave lingering hugs, as the boy loves him some daddy. Dave took off after 8 am. It gave us time to have a good, big breakfast (Dave was prepping turkey burgers for dinner this morning, and the kids split one) in addition to their other breakfast. While we waited for Michelle and Mckayla to come by around 9 am. As soon as Dave left, Brandon reverted to his 2 year old self, saying, “Daddy gone. Daddy bye-bye.” He looked pathetic. But he wasn’t crying, so that’s progress. I *think* he was kidding around, but deep down, I know his misses his daddy. We cleaned up a bit, read a few books, and then when they arrived, Peyton “sold” Michelle her cookies. We got into the car, where Brandon was already, and we caravanned up to the city. My plan to go to the library last night worked out beautifully – Brandon read in the car, while Peyton snoozed. She knew better than to read, as she tends to get car sick. It was a very quiet ride right up until we were getting close to the museum and trying to find parking. Peyton sprung to life, which I was happy about. I didn’t want her to be lethargic the whole day, as that would have made things very difficult. They were very excited getting out of the car. After feeding the meter, we headed across the street. We checked in, and made a pit stop before heading to explore. I’d paid four hours in the meter, thinking it was plenty of time. My kids were hungry, so we stopped outside for a bit to eat. I’d brought bars to tie them over, and each kid had one. The weather outside was perfect! I was expecting it to be windy, but it wasn’t in the least. We could see clearly across the bay. They had a few more minutes playing outside before we headed back to the cars. We put more money in, and then headed to the Ferry Building. I got them each a sandwich, then we parted ways from Michelle and Mckayla. We walked over to my dad’s office, and Peyton proceeded to deliver her cookie orders. She had help from my aunt. Brandon chowed down on his lunch, then came out to say hello. Peyton finished up her lunch, and once she was done, she was taken around to the neighbors next door to sell the rest of the random boxes I’d brought. I only brought what I could carry, and she sold them all! I was told she would’ve and could’ve sold more of I’d brought more stock! When she puts her vest on, she’s totally able to sell more boxes! We walked back, and it was so much longer of a walk without Mckayla to keep Peyton company. They chatted on the way over, and then Peyton dragged a bit on the way back. We did make it, and we stopped by the store before leaving. Brandon got a set of magnets, and then we headed out. Peyton fell asleep again, while Brandon read his book quietly. It took us almost 1.5 hours to get home, and by that time, Peyton had awoken. I was okay with that, since I wanted them both to sleep earlier tonight. The kids showered up, practiced piano, ate dinner, watched jeopardy, and then they were out. Here are the pics from today:

Multipurpose Day

Today, we went about our business as usual. I headed to work, while Dave dropped the kids off. I left after a few hours, then headed to the gym. I took my time, both on the treadmill and the bike. I think I spent almost an hour and a half there before heading to get a birthday present for Saturday. Then, I headed home to unload the groceries before heading to pick up the kids. I had to wait for Peyton, as she was next in line for her face/hand painting. She was getting an orange butterfly on her hand. We got Brandon, then headed to the store to return some gifts. Peyton got a duplicate from her birthday, and I grabbed Brandon’s lee-cee from CNY. They had some coupons, too, so I took that. We got to the store, returned her stuff, and headed to shop. There was a deal on legos – buy one get one 40% off. That meant the two of them had to strike a deal with one another. They both wanted a minecraft stuffed pig, but both have tons of stuffed animals. They wouldn’t give up, but I wore Peyton down first. I told her, “Where are you going to put it? You have so many stuffed animals!” She said, “Oh, okay.” Then she selected a lego friends set. But Brandon changed his mind, and didn’t want one. I told them if they wanted one lego, then they needed to both get one, or none at all. They went back and forth across the aisles trying to decide, when they finally picked each a set commiserate with the money they had, less the discount. It was hard to separate the discount out for each of them, and since there was extra money left over, each got a trash pack set along with a lego minifigure. By the time we left, each was happy with his or her selection. We came home, practiced piano, read, and then waited for Dave to get home. Brandon had to take a test which will simulate testing conditions for his test in the spring. He did this just as Dave was coming home; Dave came home to a quiet house for once! We headed to get food truck food, and to the library to get some more books. This will help keep it more quiet for the next few days when it’s just me holding down the fort. Today was so much cooler than yesterday, so going to the pool was out of the question. Dave even forgot to give them sweatshirts, and both kids complained of being cold! Even Dave himself had to borrow a sweatshirt at work, since he underestimated the weather today. We sent the kids to bed later than usual, but they were excited about the day tomorrow. Peyton told me she wanted to cuddle, but that Wednesdays and Sundays were the days she headed to Brandon’s room in the morning. Those are her arbitrary days she selected. I told her we didn’t have too much time tomorrow, so she’d have to make decisions and choices. I’m looking forward to the journey as well! Dave, not so much. He was paired with a roommate this trip! I feel sorry for the roommate, and hope he will bring earplugs. Hopefully he doesn’t smother him with a pillow, as I’m tempted at times when I can’t sleep because of the snoring.

Restful Day

Peyton didn’t get up until almost 8 am! Dave had already left for work, so we got up casually. She practiced piano, read a few books, then we eventually went to get Brandon. My mom wanted to head back home, so we went to get him. He’d woken up early; he slept with my parents, while Peyton bragged she got to sleep in our bed. We came home, and both kids were sent to nap. Both were up way to late, and up relatively early. Neither complained, and stayed asleep for almost 2 hours! We got up, had lunch, then headed to swim. I had suited up, but after the kids said it was cold when they jumped in, I had a change of heart. I had them do two laps each, back and out, swimming one at a time, while I walked alongside the pool ready to jump in if needed. (I was really hoping not to). When one was done, then the other went out. After they did this twice (four laps total), swimming over the deep section of the pool four times (Peyton described the pool like a bowl, shallow and then deep, then shallow again), both headed to the kiddie area. They just wanted to play with the rings that I had. I told them we’d stay for an hour. She’d scraped it she said on the wall, but a flap of skin was loose. I wrapped her up in towels and covered her knee up, mostly because I didn’t want to see blood. She kept it together, and was fascinated, trying to see it. She didn’t complain that she had to sit out. Brandon played around on his own for another 30 minutes or so before coming out, too. We headed home without showering, since I’d wanted her to get cleaned up and bandaged. We got cleaned up, then we headed to return some gifts. The problem was, I’d forgotten my wallet in my swim bag, so we weren’t able to return the gifts. We headed home, and Dave was already there. We had a relaxing dinner, while the kids watched All Star weekend footage again. Brandon is loving it! They went off to bed, while we’re just relaxing before we both go to work tomorrow. I’ll go in for as long as I can get my stuff done, then I’ll head to the gym before picking them up.

New Family Member!

Today was Peyton’s turn for baseball/softball practice. Dave got her all packed up and ready to go after the kids practiced piano. Brandon and I headed there on foot, retracing the steps he took when he “ran away”. He told me while he was walking down our street, he kept the ball in his left hand. While he crossed the street, he moved the ball in his right hand, keeping it away from the street side. His rationale was that if he dropped it, it would be even further away from the street, because, “Duh, I’m not going in the street.” I asked him what he did told me most of the way, he kept his head down. I asked him if he was crying, and he said, “I didn’t let anyone see my face.” He said at one point, the car stopped to let him go, but he told the car to go. The car finally did let him go first, but he crossed with his hand up in the air. We made it safely as did he, but I did coach him along the way of what to think about when crossing the street. He said he kept looking behind him while crossing. After we got there, we helped Peyton with batting practice. She hit a few balls, and she was determined! Later, Brandon took a few balls. I didn’t film him, as I was more concerned about my safety!
After we were done there, we all showered up then headed to the City. We were going to pick up my mom from my dad’s office. The kids didn’t want to go with us to the Ferry building for lunch, so we headed out on our own. We stopped by a few of the stalls, before selecting a few sandwiches to take back. Dave got some coffee, of course, and we headed back. My parents had already gone out for coffee and snacks for the kids. So we had plenty of food. Peyton went around to those who were there to sell her cookies. She just stood there and looked at my cousin, who tried to get her to talk. But she wouldn’t talk to him. Finally she worked up the nerve to ask him for $5. It got a bit easier, especially as she sold her 5 boxes to one customer. She told him about the raffle ticket and gave him his bag. She even asked me for change for the other sale that required it. Though, I made her figure it out what it was. After awhile there, we headed to my grandma’s house. There, she made more sales, with even 5 boxes donated from someone who told her “I can’t have cookies”! We had a yummy dinner
and met my cousin’s new wife for the first time. He introduced us all to her, and explained about the kids’ temperaments. The kids ate all that they were given, asking to be excused after their sparkling cider was consumed (I think the highlight of their day, besides the red envelopes). They both said, “Gong Hay Fat Choy” for their reward. They know now, without even being prompted. After two rounds of MJ, we headed home to drop my mom off. As we were leaving, Ellen said bye to Peyton, to which she responded, “Bye!” She must have really liked her! It took my cousin years to get her to talk to him, and even then, it’s spotty. He told her, “But I’m blood!” She made it a little easier, since she said bye to him, too, but she gave them both a wave. We dropped Brandon off with my mom, and I’d plan to go get him tomorrow. Peyton was excited to be the only child. I told her she could stay with us, though Dave didn’t know that was the deal. I dropped her off before we started watching tv downstairs. She crawled over to Dave’s side immediately, probably to make room for me later 🙂

Valentine’s Day

Today was Valentine’s day, but really, it’s Saturday. I took the opportunity of a “free” morning to head to the gym. I took Peyton with me to check into the kids’ club. Dave had Brandon at baseball practice. It was an hour class, then Peyton and I headed to the library. I’d forgotten our books to return, but we checked out new ones. We went to go get gas, then headed to get some pastries before heading home. I got Brandon a coconut twist, Peyton chose the purple taro one, and I got a coffee and mocha one. We headed home, and after eating her half taro and milk, Peyton headed up for a nap. I wasn’t sure if she actually slept, but she did head upstairs. Dave and Brandon came home from baseball, changed and then headed out for basketball. We got a delivery of more cookies to fulfill orders, and then it was time for us to head to Cole’s birthday. It was at the same skating place that we’ve now been to twice in the last two months. It was a great day, nice and sunny, and the rink was open just for us! I got Peyton’s shoes on, and we said hello to the birthday boy and his parents. Also, another baseball family was there; we learned their twin girls went to preschool with Cole! Nathan didn’t recognize me at first, though he waved back when I waved at him and said hello, then later said, “Hey, I know you!” He asked where Brandon was. Peyton had a great time skating, and so did I, since I heard the attendant ask the guy ahead of me if he wore wide shoes. My shoes were wide, and I could have lasted a long time in those! Peyton worked on skating, while I was trying my hand skating backwards, and being more daring.
I tried to fling Peyton, but caught a toe, and went down on a knee. I managed to not drag her down with me; she was happy that she kept on skating and didn’t fall (she said, “And I didn’t even fall that time!”). We stopped for sing to Cole, have cake and snacks, only to return right away to skate some more. After 1.5 hours, we called it a day. We said goodbye to our hosts, and headed home. Dave and Brandon were already home. Both kids practiced piano, then we headed out for some family time! Dave wanted to let them play at D&B’s. We let them play games, mostly shooting and throwing balls. We let Peyton do skeeball, and she was practicing her softball pitch.
