Kids…

No matter how upset he gets, Brandon will still ask for hugs and kisses at bedtime 😉 Today was okay, as I laid down the ground rules upon picking him up. He struggled late last night with homework, so I told him he had to stay home from practice to get it done today. He had to do today’s math, tomorrow’s math (because of his own game), piano, and 40 minutes of reading (20 for today, and 20 for tomorrow) before practice. The only thing that he could reserve for after was reading, as he could do that with Dave, and he didn’t need 100% concentration like with math. It was 3 pm. Dave was holding Pirates practice at 5 pm, but usually comes home around 430 pm or so. I set Peyton up with something to do, and we locked ourselves in the guest room with his math book, pencil and worksheet. Peyton was yelling at us through the keyhole that she was bored and needed something to do. We ignored her and pounded out his math. Dave had a hard time explaining things to him last night, since Brandon was tired. But now that I had a captive audience, I needed to make the most of it. Next, I played piano with him, since I knew I could play with Peyton later after Brandon was gone. He quickly got his piano done, but it was 430 pm by that time. Dave came home just as Brandon was wrapping up, and Brandon willingly went to practice. I then concentrated on Peyton. She practiced piano, then she started to read while I got some dinner ready for her. I was getting her some pasta and a big salad with lots of veggies so she could write it down on her fruits and veggies log. She asked for sweet potatoes, too, so those we popped those in the oven for an hour. While those cooked, we re-visited her online reading. She’s taken a big break, as she got frustrated with the comprehension. She’s been reading harder books according to the book finder, so I thought it was time again. She read one book and got 3 wrong. She was a bit frustrated, but because she had my full attention (she even told me, “No phones, right?”), she was able to keep it together. I even convinced her to do another book, with non-fiction, since her potato was still too hot to eat. It is helpful for buy cialis pill the person and makes you face better results. By that time, the boys had come home, and she was fading quickly. She’d already taken a shower, and she was yawning, while reading horizontally. She finished up the reading, potato, and then it was off to bed for her. As Brandon was finishing up dinner, I went to check on her, and she was sleeping with her leg upward, heavily breathing. I closed her door so we wouldn’t wake her. While Brandon was reading, I packed up for the gym. I told Dave I’d be back at 10 pm. Brandon said, “That’s SOOO late!” I was factoring in my time as well as my shower there. I needed a confidence boost, so I wanted to put 5 miles in. I set my workout for 5 miles, and plugged away. Good thing there was playoff basketball to keep me motivated. I leaned in to him while he was reading, and he gave me a peck on the cheek. Life is good when Brandon eats and sleeps, and he knows what is expected of him 🙂 It’s a simple formula, but it’s not always going to happen. Tonight, I’ll take it. So here I am; I got my five miles done, in just less than 50 minutes, and I’m back just before 10 pm 🙂 I’ve already packed my lunch and dinner for Peyton tomorrow. Dave did the lunches, so we are all set! Now to start on my school work for the end of the year party preparation.

While the boys were gone, peyton and I played around with her Girl Scout prizes. Since her walls are all marked up, I didn’t see a reason to not put these bad boys up.  She can write with chalk , if I can find some thin pieces.  When I put them up, she exclaimed, “Daddy!”  Uh, sure.  Though I’m not sure we’re talking about the same dude.  This is a reenactment of what she originally did. She wanted me to take the picture without “The two”.
