Last year, we met up for a last hurrah at the beach. This year, we recreated that, and we added another party!
initially, Brandon didn't want to go unless Ian was there. But I didn't know if he'd be there for sure. We got up, and got ready, and headed out just before 10 am. We stopped at the store for sandwiches. Dave had gone into work at 6 am and did his work and drove half way to meet me at a park and ride. We met up with him and switched cars. We drove the rest of the way together, and we were the first to arrive. We hung out on the top until Michelle arrived. We all headed down to the beach together, but there was a water barrier to the beach. Michelle, her kids, and Peyton headed across the water, while Dave, Brandon and I, who all had shoes and socks on, headed for higher ground and less water in our way. We did have to cross a little bit, but it wasn't as deep and there were planks there to cross over the water. We all managed to get across, and later Bonnie, Con, and Lo arrived and found us. Kathy had a wagon, and several beachgoers saw her and said she'd not make it. So she called and the other adults went up to help. I watched the 6 kids at the beach. There was suddenly a huge wave which took all the toys out to the sea! Mckayla and I ran after the ones that we could get, and I think she got them all. We ended up pretty far down the beach. The other adults had returned by then, otherwise, I would not have had her retrieve the toys as far as we were. We joined the rest of the group and threw the toys further up hill. The kids played in and around the water for over an hour though it was overcast and chilly! We took a break for lunch, and ate the sandwiches that we brought. Dave had a burrito that he'd gotten from before he met up with us. It was humungous, and the same sized burrito was able to feed Bonnie and both of her boys! We let them play cards in the mini tent for a little bit before packing up for the other activities we all had. We had Peyton's first travel ball meeting for dinner, so we wanted to get changed and showered up for that. We all hiked back up the hill with our gear, and we headed home.
It was nice and sunny at home, of course. We were the first to arrive at the meeting, with the other two new families to arrive shortly after us. We staked out our area, and formed the "S-vale crew". The other half of the team is from SCH.
