Base/softball day

This morning, Dave woke up and wanted to run/scoot to MTN. We seem to spend lots of time there. We headed in the car to the trail. From there, the kids went by scooter, and we told them to stay close enough that they could see us. I started running ahead, and Dave kept pace behind me the whole way. I thought he’d catch up at some point, but it didn’t happen until I stopped to ask him which exit he wanted to take. We walked together, then headed for coffee and then the breakfast spot. Peyton wanted to hold out for acai bowls, which didn’t open until 10 am. She was okay waiting, but Dave ordered food for us to try to change our minds. He succeeded. She was full by the end of breakfast, and we headed back to the car, not the acai bowl place. I was running up to Brandon on his scooter, and then passed him. He asked me, “How are you running faster than my scooter?” Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to sustain it, and I petered out. Dave passed me, and he was even pushing Peyton from behind up the hill. I ended up just taking my time, and eventually, I made it back. The three of them were already in the car. I was afraid if I made them wait too long, then I’d have to get myself the rest of the 2 miles home. Luckily, my family loves me. When we got home, we practiced piano, then the kids went to take naps before proceeding with the rest of our day. Peyton and Dave went to pitchers report, with a clinic by the league. The parents were their catchers. I brought Brandon shortly after, and we watched the two of them learn. Dave has to learn, too. They broke down the pitching technique in steps, and she was getting it. Better than last fall, where she just went for it, with no formal technique or instructions. After an hour, I took her to get the acai bowl that I’d promised, and then Brandon went to practice with Dave. We headed to TJ’s after acai to get ready for our week. She showered up, and we waited for the boys to come home. It was a nice, quiet evening as we prepare for the week!
Next weekend, we have two opening ceremonies, four games – two each of base/softball and basketball. We need to gear ourselves up, especially since Dave will be out for another conference at the last part of the week.
